What to Do with a Torn Canvas? Make a Creative Matching Game!
We’ve already explained how to fix a dented canvas in this blog post, How to Fix an Imprinted Canvas. If the canvas is torn, you have plenty of options for putting it to use. Today, we’ll show you one creative idea that you can try with the kids.
Handmade Memory Game
What to Do with a Torn Canvas? Make a Creative Memory Game!
Use a ruler to mark out equal-sized squares on the canvas. We chose 4 x 4 centimeters. If you have older kids who can use scissors, let them help you. Working with scissors helps develop fine motor skills. Once you’ve cut out the pieces, get your paints ready to paint pictures on them. We chose Kreul acrylic paints.
You can choose any motifs you like, but remember that each picture needs to have two matching pieces (otherwise, finding the pairs would be very difficult :) ). Older kids can paint their own pictures, too. For the youngest ones, be sure to give them Mucki finger paints and let them try simple shapes or colorful smudges, which can later help them learn.
Tip: You can decorate the front of the memory game together, for example, with a handmade stamp or the same lettering on each piece.
Kids can also use glow-in-the-dark finger paints Mucki to create interesting pictures. The youngest kids tried them out here, too:
Not only will you have lots of fun crafting together, but the memory game you create can also be a learning tool that helps kids review colors, shapes, and anything else... Plus, a memory game made from canvas will last much longer than a paper one, so you can take it along on trips and outings.
Have fun crafting together!
