Getting started with painting or drawing? Here you’ll find products specially selected for beginners – affordable prices, easy to use, forgiving materials. From ECO canvases to acrylic paint sets and brush sets.
What Should You Start With?
We recommend acrylic paints. They dry quickly, are water-soluble, and are forgiving. A set of 12 paints + a 40×50 canvas + 3 brushes = an ideal start.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which paints are best if I’m just starting to paint on canvas?
For beginners, we definitely recommend acrylic paints. They are water-soluble, dry quickly, and are easy to work with. Start with a set of ARTMiE® acrylic paints, which have high pigmentation and excellent coverage. They’re ideal for learning techniques because you can quickly cover mistakes on the canvas with another layer of paint, without a long wait.
Which brush should I choose so I don’t get overwhelmed?
You don’t need a whole set to get started. A few quality synthetic brushes in different shapes will be plenty. Choose a flat brush for larger areas and a round brush for details. ARTMiE® synthetic brushes are durable, don’t shed bristles, and hold their shape well, making it much easier to apply paint to canvas or paper.
Do I need expensive professional paints to get started?
No, student-grade lines are enough for learning techniques. Once you gain confidence, though, try GOLDEN professional acrylic paints. They’re known for their buttery consistency and exceptional permanence. You’ll notice the difference in pigment quality when mixing shades, where GOLDEN delivers much cleaner results that you’ll appreciate when creating your first serious works.
What surface is best to paint on if I’m a complete beginner?
A classic stretched canvas is the best choice. For beginners, we recommend ARTMiE® canvases with universal gesso priming, which are ready to use right away. The surface is smooth enough and ready to take paint without absorbing it. A canvas will make you feel like a real artist, and your artwork will look professional.
How should I care for my brushes so they last as long as possible?
The key is not to let paint dry on the brush. Wash them thoroughly with lukewarm water and mild soap after each painting session. Never leave them standing in water with the bristles pointing down, as this will deform them. After washing, reshape them with your fingers and let them air-dry horizontally. Proper care will extend the life of your ARTMiE® brushes by years.
