Frequently Asked Questions

What glue is best for decoupage?

For napkin decoupage, we recommend PENTART decoupage glue. It’s ideal because it dries clear and forms a thin protective film. Apply a thin layer with a soft synthetic ARTMiE® brush, working from the center of the motif toward the edges. This helps prevent wrinkles and keeps the surface smooth.

What’s the best way to attach small decorations to wood?

For small decorations such as beads or cutouts, KREUL Javé craft glue is a great choice. Its precision applicator lets you apply glue exactly where you need it. For larger wooden surfaces, choose ARTMiE® all-purpose dispersion glue. It holds firmly when dry and is suitable for most absorbent materials in your studio.

I need to glue fabric. What should I choose?

For fabric projects, use PENTART fabric glue. It’s designed to remain flexible when dry and withstand regular washing. Simply apply it to the fabric, press the second material into place, and let it dry thoroughly. Avoid standard office glue, which can leave unsightly stains on fabric or come loose in the wash.

Can I glue styrofoam without it melting?

Yes, but you need to use glue made specifically for styrofoam that contains no harsh solvents. We recommend KREUL craft glue, which is gentle on delicate materials. Always test a small amount of glue on a scrap piece of styrofoam first to make sure the surface stays intact and the decoration holds firmly.

How do I remove glue residue from my work surface?

Most water-based craft glues, including those from PENTART and ARTMiE®, can be easily wiped off a work surface with a damp cloth while still wet. If the glue has dried, try carefully scraping it off with a spatula or using a gentle alcohol-based cleaner. When working with glue, always use an ARTMiE® work mat, which is easy to clean afterward.
