Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main difference between Sakura Pigma Micron pens and other markers?
Sakura Pigma Micron pens use unique archival pigment-based ink that is water-resistant, lightfast, and does not bleed through paper. Unlike standard dye-based markers, these pens ensure your drawing will not fade over time and will retain its precise details, making them a great choice for technical drawing, illustrations, and comic creation.
What surfaces can I use Sakura Cray-Pas oil pastels on?
These pastels are very versatile and work well on paper, cardboard, canvas, wood, and even glass. They are popular for their creamy consistency, which makes them easy to layer and blend. For softer color transitions, you can rub them with your fingers or a paper blending stump to create effects similar to oil painting.
Are Sakura Gelly Roll gel pens suitable for dark paper?
Yes, the Sakura Gelly Roll Moonlight and Metallic series are ideal for dark paper. Their high pigment content stands out on black or colored backgrounds. We recommend writing slowly so the ink has time to flow evenly from the tip, giving you a rich, unbroken line that shines beautifully on the paper.
How should I store Sakura Pigma Micron markers so they last a long time?
The key to a long life is storing them horizontally and replacing the cap securely after each use. This helps prevent the tip from drying out and ensures the ink flows evenly. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight, which could negatively affect the quality of the pigment inside the marker.
Can I combine Sakura products with mediums from other brands, such as Royal Talens or Pebeo?
Sakura products are compatible with most art supplies. Pigma Micron pens are ideal for outlining sketches made with Royal Talens pencils or adding details to paintings made with Pebeo acrylic paints. Always test on a piece of paper to make sure the underlying layer is dry enough, so wet paint residue does not damage the pen tip.
