How to Use

You can insert these wooden pegs into the frame later. The corner grooves in the stretcher bars are designed for this purpose. Use your fingers to place a key in each slot, with the pointed end facing down and the long side parallel to the frame. Gently tap the top of the key with a hammer. Be careful not to hit it too hard, or you may damage the frame. The key widens the gap between two stretcher bars and tightens the canvas. Repeat at all four corners.

OUR TIP:

Check the canvas tension after inserting each key. Stop stretching once the fabric is tight enough. The key cannot be removed after insertion and may create too much tension. If the canvas is stretched too tightly, it may crack or damage the frame. To check whether the canvas is stretched enough, gently tap the center with your fingers. If it vibrates like a drum membrane, it is stretched correctly. If it does not vibrate and feels soft, it needs retightening.
