I’d never used Liquitex heavy-body acrylics before, so I wanted to compare them with other brands. The viscosity of both paints seems similar, as does the open working time. Liquitex pleasantly surprised me. The color shift from wet to dry was minimal. The Hue version is significantly cheaper, and the difference is so small that it’s easy to overlook. The plastic tube makes dispensing the paint easier, a small but very welcome detail. I’m a convert.
I love this paint and use it often. The Liquitex version is warm and opaque, with good coverage. It’s great for lightening brown shades without making the color cooler or muddy. It can be used as a warm highlight when white would be too harsh. It gives a softer, muted tone when mixed with vivid colors.
For me, this is the best single-pigment paint with PB36 pigment. As usual with Liquitex Professional, it’s one of the best acrylic formulas on the market, with the highest possible pigment concentration. Unfortunately, it’s very expensive, but that’s because of the pigment. Cobalt paints have gotten more expensive along with rising demand for electric cars.
Unbleached Titanium is a great paint when you want a warmer shade of white. Ignore the color shown on the website. In reality, it’s paler and more beige. Why do I like the Liquitex version? Because it’s warmer than most alternatives, which makes it great for mixing. When you add white to a color, the resulting tones can be cool, especially with browns. Adding Unbleached Titanium instead of white preserves the warmth and richness. The different formats, heavy body, fluid, acrylic gouache, and acrylic marker, all match each other well. An irreplaceable color on my palette.
An excellent mixing color for heavy-body acrylics. It’s also great for desaturating background objects and skies in landscape paintings. I used it straight from the tube as a glaze.
