Pigment PY153 is no longer used much (it has been discontinued), so if you like it, get some while you can still find it. The color leans a little toward orange, but not as much as PY65 (for example, Winsor Yellow Deep), and it’s definitely less garish and more subtle. A beautiful color that definitely deserves a place in a palette with two or more yellows.
An interesting comparison with Turner’s turquoise PB28. Both are very good, semi-opaque, similarly intense, and have fine granulation, but Lukas leans more noticeably toward green and is lighter in tone.
An underrated blue. It has the unusual quality of shifting to a different, lighter shade of blue when diluted, instead of becoming more luminous like most watercolors. Excellent for many water-themed subjects!
