A good, economical Viridian. An unusual color straight from the tube, but it makes a beautiful turquoise blue when mixed with ultramarine blue, so there's no need for a cool blue on the palette. It also makes beautiful spring greens when mixed with Cadmium Yellow Light.
This is a versatile, transparent orange-red pigment. It makes a good black with ultramarine blue (some brands need a little Alizarin Crimson), and mixes with Rembrandt Viridian to make several very useful greens. It's also useful for skin tones. Very similar to Burnt Sienna, perhaps more transparent.
Excellent quality with good pigment content. The consistency is a little thinner than I'm used to, but the color quality makes up for it. The price is on the high side if you work in a larger format like I do, but it's ideal for those small accents of color that can bring a painting to life.
Rembrandt is simply a legend. The buttery consistency and purity of the pigments are on a whole other level from cheaper brands.
My daughter is studying at art school and asked for these paints as a gift. She says they're the best oils she's ever worked with.
The rich black I chose has amazing opacity. It's my first choice for details.
