Customer reviews
I’ve been using Schmincke oil paints for years, mainly the Norma and Mussini lines. Cobalt Cerulean Blue is great for skies and seas, as are Cobalt Turquoise and Cobalt Blue Light. From the Mussini line, I also highly recommend Brownish Gray Light. What I like most about Schmincke is that the paints are really packed with pigment and come out of the tube with a perfect creamy consistency. Sometimes I add 3–4 drops of Walnut Alkyd medium when I want to loosen the paint a little, but I often paint straight from the tube, too. I use Titanium White for whites, and I can’t do without Warm White. It’s a very useful shade.
Creamy and smooth, with a nice range of cerulean shades. It’s a little more saturated than usual, which actually suits me, and it’s beautiful. It goes on very smoothly on Arches paper. This is my first time trying this brand, and I’ll definitely buy it again.
This Raw Light Ochre is excellent as a base for skin tones. I hadn’t tried Norma before, and I was pleasantly surprised. The paint isn’t runny, it’s nicely creamy. I also recommend their Madder Ruby. It’s the closest I’ve found so far to the original Alizarin Crimson.
Excellent paint. The blue is deep and saturated. Its transparency is great for glazing, and it dries really fast, which might be a problem for some people, but it works for me. It means I can finish portraits much faster.
I bought this beautiful shade of red because my favorite artist, Mark Carder, uses this color (PR264) in his limited palette, and I’m glad I did.
Quality paint. It was a little oily at first, but overall the consistency is decent. The colors are very saturated. You can’t beat it for the price. If you want to try water-mixable oil paints, this is a great place to start.
