Schmincke Spray Fixative for Pastels AEROPUMP 350 ml

This is a highly effective intermediate fixative and final fixative from Schmincke for pastels and chalks, made from high-quality synthetic resin dissolved in alcohol.

How to use:

Shake well before use. Spray at room temperature after testing the spray and building up pressure by moving the can from side to side and from top to bottom. Hold the can about 40 cm away from the object, which should be positioned vertically or at a slight angle and be completely dry. Move the spray head steadily. Change the direction of spraying away from the image. With AEROPUMP products, the spray is less dispersed than with AEROSPRAY products. The gloss level depends on the absorbency of the surface, the painting technique, and the thickness of the film. Sometimes it is useful to fix the artwork in stages. Applying fixative to the surface of an image made with materials containing little binder, such as pastels or chalks, may cause the color shade to darken considerably. Using too much fixative often causes a loss of lightness. The product may also make the support, such as paper, more transparent.

Fixative coatings commonly used in practice do not provide any special UV protection for the paints used. For this reason, we recommend using high-quality, lightfast artist paints from the outset whenever possible. Any clogged spray heads are best cleaned with alcohol/ethanol.
