I used fixative in a basic course at school 40 years ago. I've decided to do some more sketches now that my interest has returned. It's very effective and fixes drawings perfectly.
It works, but you need to spray carefully to get an even spray. I recommend wearing a mask and making sure the area is well ventilated. It also darkens the artwork and deepens the colors. In my case, that was an improvement.
