In brief

There are two types of glass paints: stained glass paints air-dry and are suitable for windows and decorations, while paints that are oven-baked at home (Pebeo Vitrea 160, KREUL Glass and Porcelain) are dishwasher-resistant after baking. According to the manufacturers, painted surfaces must not come into contact with food or drinks. Use an outline paint to add contours, and removable Window Art paints are suitable for children.

Glass paints should be chosen based on what you want to paint: windows and decorations that are not washed often work well with stained glass paints that do not need baking. Paint glasses, vases, and glass jars that you will wash with paints that are baked in a regular oven.

How to Paint Glass and Set the Paint

Wash the glass and degrease it with alcohol. First, draw the outlines with a liner and let them dry. For Pebeo Vitrea 160, this takes 30 minutes. Then fill in the areas with paint. Let paints that require baking dry (KREUL 4 hours, Vitrea 160 24 hours), place the item in a cold oven, and bake: KREUL at 160 °C for 90 minutes, Pebeo Vitrea 160 at 160 °C for 40 minutes. After baking, let the item cool in the oven. Stained glass paints that do not require baking are touch-dry in about 2 hours and fully dry in 10 hours. Afterward, wash the window gently with water only.
