PEBEO, French creativity since 1919
Pebeo was founded by Claudius Chaveau in 1919 in Gémenos near Marseille. It originally made paints for the textile industry, but gradually grew into one of the world's largest manufacturers of art and craft paints.
The history of the Pebeo brand
Pebeo is a pioneer in innovation. It was the first to launch Vitrail paints for glass, Porcelaine 150 paints for ceramics, and Fantasy Moon paints with a moonlight effect. Today, it exports to more than 100 countries and offers one of the world's widest palettes of craft paints.

Frequently asked questions
How do you properly heat-set Pebeo Setacolor fabric paints?
Once the painting is completely dry, usually after 24 hours, iron the design from the back or through parchment paper. Set the iron to the cotton setting and iron each part of the design for five minutes. Once heat-set this way, Pebeo Setacolor paints can withstand machine washing at temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius, while retaining their flexibility and brightness.
What's the difference between Pebeo Vitrail and Pebeo Fantasy Prisme paints?
Pebeo Vitrail paints are transparent glass paints that create a clear stained-glass effect. Pebeo Fantasy Prisme paints, on the other hand, are opaque and form unique honeycomb patterns as they dry. Both are popular in our ARTMiE online store. If you're looking for depth and gloss, choose Vitrail. If you want experimental textures and striking patterns, choose Fantasy Prisme.
Do I need special surfaces to work with Pebeo Gedeo paints?
Pebeo Gedeo paints and resins are very versatile. You can apply them to glass, metal, wood, ceramics, or canvas. When working with resin, we recommend using silicone molds from our ARTMiE range, which give castings a smooth surface. If you're working on porous materials, first apply a thin coat of primer varnish to prevent the paint from soaking into the surface.
Can Pebeo paints be mixed with other brands, such as Sonnet?
We don't recommend mixing Pebeo products with other brands like Sonnet if they are chemically different media. However, acrylic paints can be combined, but keep in mind that each brand has a different pigment-to-binder ratio. For the best results and to preserve the durability of your work, test compatibility on a small area of the surface before you start creating.
What's the best way to clean brushes after using Pebeo Fantasy paints?
Because Pebeo Fantasy paints are solvent-based, regular water isn't enough to clean brushes. Use odorless thinner or mineral spirits right away. After thoroughly washing out the paint residue, wash the brushes again in warm water with mild soap to remove any remaining solvent and keep the bristles supple. You'll also find special brush cleaners in our ARTMiE range.
